Last day tomorrow!

Tomorrow is our last day of school! We will be doing a little cleaning, packing up the last of our assignments as well as celebrating. I’ve asked the students to bring a snack that they can share with their classmates! We will be doing a snack potluck while celebrating our last day together!

Tomorrow your child will be coming home with a few duotangs as well as their pizza boxes and pencil case boxes. Please do NOT send the agenda’s so that they have more room in their school bags!

A change for our outing on the afternoon of June 26th

I have some good news and bad news!

The bad news is we were supposed to go see a movie in the afternoon of June 26th, we received the movie choices on the 19th. The only movie available to see is the Incredibles. This isn’t the issue. The catch is this is a Disney Pixar Film, THEREFORE they want to charge us an extra $2.50 per ticket raising our $6.00 to $8.50 as well as our popcorn treat staying at $5.50. SO….we started looking into other options. The only outing I would think makes sense is the Chuck E Cheese option. So this is what it looks like:

An afternoon (the same day 26th pm) at Chuck E Cheese, for $11.25 includes:

  • 2 slices of pizza
  • unlimited pop
  • 1 hour of free play of the games
  • a goody bag of surprises

If anyone does not approve of this change PLEASE EMAIL me ASAP. (c.bissonnette@rcsd.ca)

But if you can’t find the book we do ask that you send the money owed (indicated on letter) as soon as possible.

A few updates…

This week was a busy and short week! As of last week, assessments have started. If your child has missed school please email me to see if they have missed an assignment, other than doing attendance, sometimes I forget what day a student has missed and it ends up being too late or I don’t have the time to catch them up one on one.

Please note there is NO SCHOOL for students TOMORROW. Teachers have a professional preparation day.

Your child’s father’s day card and gift is in their school bags. We completed them today! Hope you all have a great day celebrating!!! Happy Father’s Day!!!

A peek at the next couple weeks:

June 20th is Rick Hansen Splash Park Day.

June 21rst we are putting on the National Aboriginal Day LITURGY . Your child’s lines are in their agenda pouch. Please have them practice EVERYDAY. We do not have a set time, will be determined Monday, but you are all invited to join us.

June 26th in the afternoon we will be going to a movie at the Cineplex on McCarthy instead of bowling. SO WE WILL NOT BE BOWLING on the last day of school. The prices for the movie are as follows:

PRICING:

  • $6.00 for children ages 3 to 13

FOOD ITEMS:

  • $5.50 – Kids Combos (includes a junior popcorn, junior fountain drink and junior candy.
  • *please indicate in child’s agenda or via email what type of fountain drink your child would like. I will be ordering these ahead of time and will not accept FOOD payments after June 22nd.

Please note: We do NOT know what movie will be playing at this time. We find out on June 19th. If it is not a suitable movie we will not be going and everyone will be reimbursed.

Scholastic Orders

I know I haven’t pushed a lot of scholastic orders this year. BUT this time I am …with summer coming we have some great teacher sales that I would like to share with you!!!! The English bundles are $1 a book, you can’t even get that at dollorama. And the French bundles are as low as $2 a book in the bundle. Let me tell you that is an AMAZING deal. I usually think it’s a great deal if I can get a book for $5 – $10 in French. I shop a lot in the province of Quebec for French books and Scholastic prices are ALWAYS the best.

Summer break is not the time to stop reading with your child. It DOES NOT matter if it’s all in English. Although your child might want to show off their new French reading skills as I completed the reading assessments this week and let me tell I am one PROUD teacher.

So take a look at the bundles below :

A) Club de Lecture (French Bundle) 20 books for $40.

B) Elf See Saw Deal (25 books for $25)

C) Keep Skills Sharp Deal 1 (25 books for $25)

D) Keep Skills Sharp Deal 2 (25 books for $25)

E) Keep Skills Sharp Deal 3 (25 books for $25)

F) Lucky Deal (25 books for $25)

*Please note the Keep Skills Sharp Deal 2 & 3 are more for the advanced readers. If your child is not reading at level which is 12 this is not the deal for them, grab another deal.

Now I know i’m offering these teacher specials….BUT please check out the flyers, they have great themed bundles as well! I will be placing the order TUESDAY JUNE 12th, so that the kids can get their books before summer break!

Happy weekend everyone!!!

Play Day!

École St. Mary Play Day!

Hi parents,

On Tuesday, June 12, École St. Mary students will be participating in Play Day (weather permitting).  The students from Pre-K to Grade 3 will be rotating around 17 different outdoor stations throughout the day.  The students from Grades 4-8 who are not gone to Track & Field AND who have completed all of their assignments will be either Group Leaders or Station Leaders.

ALL students will need:

  • Socks and runners (sandals and flipflops are NOT appropriate footwear for the games that the students will be playing).
  • It is recommended that students wear a short-sleeved shirt instead of tank-tops (to avoid burning their shoulders).
  • A water bottle (labeled with their name and grade).
  • A hat (labeled with their name and grade).

There will be ice water stations set up outside so that the students can refill their water bottles.

Thank you very much to the CSCC for renting an Obstacle Course Dino Bouncer for the day for all students to enjoy!  The CSCC will also provide freezies for all of the students at the end of the day!
